Legal Services

The Michigan Immigrant Rights Center (MIRC) provides free legal services to unaccompanied children, including those released to sponsors. Services include:

  • Removal defense and representation in immigration court
  • Help applying for asylum, SIJS, U visas, and other protections
  • Legal support in family courts for custody/guardianship
  • “Know Your Rights” education and legal screenings
  • Coordination with child advocates and social services

Locations: Detroit, Ypsilanti, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and on-site at the Emergency Intake Site in Albion.

Additional services: Community education, pro bono training, and advocacy for immigrant rights.
