The ECBA Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals and small nonprofits in Western New York.
Its Immigration Program offers legal help for asylum, adjustment of status or refugee adjustments requiring waivers, SIJS (including NY State Family Court predicate proceedings for Buffalo residents), T Visa, and U Visa cases.
VLP provides removal defense for children eligible for immigration relief, including released minors and those with juvenile or mental health issues.
It offers in-house representation and refers non-SIJS removal cases to local pro bono attorneys.
VLP also serves trafficking survivors and provides free legal aid to people living with HIV/AIDS and their families.
