Brooklyn Legal Services (BLS) assists thousands of low-income Brooklyn residents each year, providing free civil legal services they might not otherwise afford. Their dedicated team of over 150 professionals—including lawyers, paralegals, social workers, and support staff—offers representation in court, files civil rights complaints with state and federal agencies, and engages in long-term litigation and advocacy to build strong, equitable, and affordable communities. BLS collaborates with community organizations, small businesses, tenant associations, elected officials, and others to pursue economic, racial, and social justice for marginalized communities across Brooklyn.
